MUOTECH sp. z o.o. delivered a project under the European Funds for Eastern Poland 2021–2027 programme, Priority FEPW.01 Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Measure FEPW.01.01 Startup Platforms for New Ideas – Component IIa – Support for the Development of Startup Business Activities.

Project No.: FEPW.01.01-IP.01-0135/25

„Innovative system for structural analysis of objects using muon imaging and Monte Carlo algorithms“

Project objective:

The objective of the project was to develop a novel system for non-invasive imaging of the internal structures of large and dense objects using muon imaging, a technology based on natural cosmic radiation. The project focused on developing solutions enabling precise analysis of measurement data, 2D and 3D structure visualization, and running simulations under different conditions and detector configurations.

Tasks:
As part of the project, a simulation tool and a system for data analysis and visualization were developed, enabling the application of muon imaging under various conditions and configurations. These activities supported the imaging of the internal structure of objects in both scientific and practical applications.

Target groups:
The project was addressed to a wide range of users, including archaeology, civil engineering and infrastructure monitoring, as well as areas related to security and border control. The solution can also be used by organisations involved in environmental protection, for example in the study of waste heaps and landfills, as well as by industrial sectors.

Results:
The result of the project is an advanced IT tool comprising a simulation system and a functional analytical-imaging module, enabling comprehensive processing of data obtained through muon imaging. The solution was tested in real-world conditions and adapted to the needs of users. The project also included activities to promote the technology, developed cooperation with industry partners, and prepared a market implementation strategy, enabling further development and dissemination of this imaging method.

The system’s production deployment was carried out at a molten-salt energy storage facility, confirming the solution’s operational readiness in industrial conditions.

Schedule and Budget:
Implementation period: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026

Project value: PLN 702,075.00

Funding amount: PLN 596,763.75
