Technology

A new way to see through dense matter.

The principle

Every day, high-energy particles generated in Earth’s atmosphere reach the surface. Among them are muons — particles that can travel through substantial amounts of matter. When these particles pass through an object, their behaviour carries information about the material they have travelled through. Muotech detectors measure these particles, and by combining measurements with computational reconstruction, we can infer information about the internal density and structure of the inspected volume. This principle is known as muon imaging or muography.

From particles to a 3D structural model

1. Detection

Muotech detectors record particles passing through or interacting with the target environment.

2. Reconstruction

Physics-based algorithms combine measurements to estimate the internal structure and density distribution.

3. Engineering output

Results are translated into visualisations, measurements and reports that can support engineering and operational decisions.

Built by scientists. Engineered for the real world.

Muotech is a deep-tech company developing advanced sensing and imaging technologies for difficult inspection problems. We combine particle physics, detector engineering, computational imaging and artificial intelligence to reveal structures and changes that are difficult to access using conventional methods.

We work where the problem is difficult.

We are most interested in inspection problems that cannot be solved easily with a standard camera, scanner or sensor. The asset may be too large. The material may be too dense. The structure may be underground. The object may be sealed. The site may be protected. Or opening the asset may simply be too disruptive or expensive. These are the situations where we believe Muotech can create the most value.

Values

Our approach

Muotech was built around a simple idea: some of the most valuable information about an asset is hidden from direct view. We combine scientific rigour with an industrial mindset.

Scientific rigour

We build our technology on established physical principles and quantitative analysis.

Engineering practicality

A solution has to work outside the laboratory. We design around real deployment conditions.

Collaboration

Difficult inspection problems often require expertise from multiple disciplines. We work with customers, researchers and industrial partners to solve them.

From fundamental physics to industrial intelligence.

Our scientific foundation comes from particle physics and detector technology. We apply that knowledge to real-world problems in energy, infrastructure, underground environments, security and heritage. Today, our work extends across the full technology chain — from detector development and simulation to field deployment, reconstruction, analysis and reporting.
