A meeting of muon tomography minds in Krakow

08.01.2025

As global challenges become more complex, interdisciplinary thinking isn’t just an advantage – it’s a necessity.

This realization came to life for us during an inspiring meeting in the first days of January 2025, when we had the privilege of hosting some of the world’s leading scientists at our Krakow offices. Their expertise spans the frontier of particle physics, and their passion for innovation aligns perfectly with what Muotech is all about.

Prof. Jaap Velthuis from the University of Bristol is renowned for his pioneering work in particle physics detector development. His research focuses on developing advanced detection technologies that have applications not only in particle physics but also in areas like nuclear waste management.

Prof. Jeff Hartnell from the University of Sussex specializes in neutrino physics. His work contributes to a deeper understanding of the universe’s most mysterious particles. Prof. Hartnell joined Sussex in 2007 as a national STFC research fellow and became a professor in 2017.

Dr. Harald Fox from Lancaster University is a key member of the ATLAS collaboration, focusing on Higgs boson research and innovations like muon tomography. His work also involves the development of silicon pixel detectors for the ATLAS upgrade project.

The next steps in this collaboration and the synergies between science and industry are on the horizon. We look forward to what’s to come!
